Approximately 50 students from different universities and academic fields attended the event. The discussion was part of the lecture series preceding the Franck Biancheri Award winner Conference\u00a0 \u201cEducation for the present, Democracy for the future\u201d organized in April by the Budapest antenna, the Civic Education Working Group and the Europe on Track Project. After two successful events examining the current political state of Turkey and the integration of refugees the Project chose another actual and relevant subject.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.locals.aegee.org\/budapest\/wp-content\/uploads\/20170221_181004181_CAM1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2104\" src=\"http:\/\/www.locals.aegee.org\/budapest\/wp-content\/uploads\/20170221_181004181_CAM1.jpg\" alt=\"20170221_181004181_CAM\" width=\"4188\" height=\"2774\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.locals.aegee.org\/budapest\/wp-content\/uploads\/20170221_181004181_CAM1.jpg 4188w, https:\/\/www.locals.aegee.org\/budapest\/wp-content\/uploads\/20170221_181004181_CAM1-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.locals.aegee.org\/budapest\/wp-content\/uploads\/20170221_181004181_CAM1-1024x678.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 4188px) 100vw, 4188px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During a round table discussion our invited experts (\u00c1d\u00e1m Pa\u00e1r and \u00c1goston Mr\u00e1z political scientists, and Zolt\u00e1n Farkas, journalist) explored what populism really means, how people and the media use the term, thus we got to know the origins of the expression.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the audience could get to know the reasons why populism is so wide-spread nowadays, how it has become mainstream, and what its effects on politics are.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.locals.aegee.org\/budapest\/wp-content\/uploads\/20170221_191120106_CAM1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2105\" src=\"http:\/\/www.locals.aegee.org\/budapest\/wp-content\/uploads\/20170221_191120106_CAM1.jpg\" alt=\"20170221_191120106_CAM\" width=\"4188\" height=\"2774\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.locals.aegee.org\/budapest\/wp-content\/uploads\/20170221_191120106_CAM1.jpg 4188w, https:\/\/www.locals.aegee.org\/budapest\/wp-content\/uploads\/20170221_191120106_CAM1-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.locals.aegee.org\/budapest\/wp-content\/uploads\/20170221_191120106_CAM1-1024x678.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 4188px) 100vw, 4188px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Besides describing possible outcomes and future trends, questions of the audience were answered and discussed.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, the event brought us a closer look and better understanding of populism, a word and a trend that influences the political atmosphere all around the globe these days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"excerpt\">Our latest event organized by AEGEE-Budapest\u2019s very own \u201eGet Involved!\u201d Project explored the topic of populism.
