A AEGEE-Bilbao le gusta el buen vino, y s\u00e1bado 9 de mayo fuimos a comprobar sus or\u00edgenes, en la Rioja Alavesa.<\/p>\n

AEGEE-Bilbao sure likes a good wine, and may 9th we went to see its origins in the Rioja Alavesa.<\/p>\n

At 8:30 we left from Bilbao the Enobus<\/a>, the wine bus, heading to the Rioja Alavesa. In one and a half hours and after a lot of jokes and laughter we got to our first destination, a small village in the frontier with Logro\u00f1o called Moregas. There we saw a two-phase constructed beautiful church and we explored the town, which kept most of the old buildings, still in use. We discovered coats of arms from nobles and bishops in the walls, cobbled streets and a magic ambient all around.<\/p>\n

A las 8:30 sali\u00f3 el autob\u00fas del vino, el Enobus<\/a>, rumbo a la Rioja Alavesa. En hora y media, y tras muchas risas y bromas, llegamos a nuestro primer destino, un peque\u00f1o pueblo cerca de la frontera con Logro\u00f1o llamado Moregas. All\u00ed vimos una bonita iglesia construida en dos etapas, y pudimos explorar el pueblo, que conservaba gran parte de los edificios antiguos, a\u00fan en uso. Descubrimos escudos de armas de nobles y obispos en las paredes, calles empedradas y un m\u00e1gico ambiente que lo envolv\u00eda todo.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Tras la visita a Moregas, fuimos a Oion, donde se sit\u00faa la Bodega de Valdemar<\/a> y se produce el famoso vino Marqu\u00e9s de Riscal. All\u00ed nos explicaron el proceso de elaboraci\u00f3n de los diferentes vinos, tanto los \u201ctradicionales\u201d como los de la innovadora l\u00ednea Inspiraci\u00f3n, en donde se mezclan nuevas t\u00e9cnicas con la utilizaci\u00f3n de uvas for\u00e1neas o casi extintas.<\/p>\n

A continuaci\u00f3n hicimos un tour guiado por las modernas instalaciones de la bodega (seg\u00fan Sof\u00eda, una estudiante Erasmus, algunos tanques de fermentaci\u00f3n parec\u00edan naves espaciales), y por supuesto pudimos ver tambi\u00e9n las tradicionales barricas en las que se envejece el vino.<\/p>\n

Y luego… el mejor momento de la visita, la cata de vinos: un claro y un tinto muy ricos acompa\u00f1ados de chorizo, picos y frutos secos. Mmm\u2026<\/p>\n

A la hora de comer fuimos a Laguardia, otro peque\u00f1o y entra\u00f1able pueblo de apenas 1500 habitantes, y buscamos un restaurante o bar con un buen precio, lo que no fue f\u00e1cil, ya que la mayor\u00eda ten\u00edan un men\u00fa del d\u00eda de 20 o 25\u20ac. Al final, encontramos un batzoki en el que serv\u00edan unos platos combinados con muy buena pinta, y nos quedamos all\u00ed. Como no pod\u00eda ser de otra forma, despu\u00e9s de la comida jugamos una partida de mus<\/a>\u00a0(bueno, lo intentamos, pues los Erasmus no sab\u00edan jugar), y luego dimos un paseo para ver el pueblo. Al final nos tomamos un refresco en un bar, antes de coger el autob\u00fas de vuelta a Bilbao.<\/p>\n

\u00a1Un gran d\u00eda entre vi\u00f1edos y vinos!<\/p>\n

After the visit to Moregas we went to Oion, home of the Bodega de Valdemar<\/a> wine cellar which produces the famous Marqu\u00e9s de Riscal wine. There we were explained the making process of the different wines, the traditional and also the new Innovaci\u00f3n line, where they combine new techniques with the use of foreign or nearly extinct grapes. Then we went in a tour around the modern facilities (according to Sofia, an Erasmus student, some fermenting tanks looked like spaceships) and we could of course see the traditional casks where the wine is aged. And lastly, the best moment of the visit, the tasting: two excellent wines, a ros\u00e9 and a red wine with some chorizo, picos and dry fruits. Mmm\u2026<\/p>\n

At lunch time we went to Laguardia, another small and endearing village merely 1500 dwellers, and we looked for a restaurant or a bar which offered a good price, but it wasn\u2019t easy because most of them had 20 or 25\u20ac menus. We did find a batzoki at last, where they served cheap and delicious looking dishes, and we stayed there. After lunch, of course, we played some mus<\/a> (or tried, because the Erasmus didn\u2019t know how to play) and walked around to see the town. We had some sodas at a bar at last, just before catching the bus back to Bilbao.<\/p>\n

A great day around vineyards and wine!<\/p>\n
